In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
NFSv4: include MAY_WRITE in open permission mask for O_TRUNC
POSIX requires write permission to truncate a file, so an open() that
specifies O_TRUNC must be authorized for write access regardless of the
O_ACCMODE access mode.
nfs_open_permission_mask() builds the access mask passed to
nfs_may_open(), which is the local authorization gate for OPENs the
client serves itself from a cached write delegation via the
can_open_delegated() path in nfs4_try_open_cached(). The mask is
derived from O_ACCMODE alone, so an open(O_RDONLY | O_TRUNC) against a
file the caller cannot write requests only MAY_READ and passes the
local check. The OPEN is then satisfied locally and the truncation is
issued to the server as a SETATTR(size=0) over the delegation stateid,
which the server accepts under standard write-delegation semantics.
POSIX requires that this open fail with EACCES.
Include MAY_WRITE in the mask whenever O_TRUNC is set so the local
check matches the access the server would have enforced.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
fuse: re-lock request before returning from fuse_ref_folio()
fuse_ref_folio() unlocks the request but does not re-lock it before
returning. fuse_chan_abort() can end the request and the async end
callback (eg fuse_writepage_free()) can free the args while the
subsequent copy chain logic after fuse_ref_folio() accesses them,
leading to use-after-free issues.
Fix this by locking the request in fuse_ref_folio() before returning.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
MIPS: DEC: Prevent initial console buffer from landing in XKPHYS
In 64-bit configurations calling the initial console output handler from
a kernel thread other than the initial one will result in a situation
where the stack has been placed in the XKPHYS 64-bit memory segment and
consequently so has been the buffer allocated there that is used as the
argument corresponding to the `%s' output conversion specifier for the
firmware's printf() entry point.
This 64-bit address will then be truncated by 32-bit firmware, resulting
in an attempt to access the wrong memory location, which in turn will
cause all kinds of unpredictable behaviour, such as a kernel crash:

In this case the pointer in $4 was truncated from 0x980000000203bd00 to
0x000000000203bd00.
This may happen when no final console driver has been enabled in the
configuration and consequently the initial console continues being used
late into bootstrap or with an upcoming change that will switch the zs
driver to use a platform device, which in turn will make the console
handover happen only after other kernel threads have already been
started.
Fix the issue by making the buffer static and initdata, and therefore
placed in the CKSEG0 32-bit compatibility segment, observing that the
console output handler is called with the console lock held, implying
no need for this code to be reentrant. Add an assertion to verify the
buffer actually has been placed in a compatibility segment.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tty: serial: pch_uart: add check for dma_alloc_coherent()
Add a check for dma_alloc_coherent() failure to prevent a potential
NULL pointer dereference in dma_handle_rx(). Properly release DMA
channels and the PCI device reference using a goto ladder if the
allocation fails.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
Input: elan_i2c - validate firmware size before use
Ensure that the firmware file is large enough to contain the expected
number of pages and the signature (which resides at the end of the
firmware blob) before accessing them to prevent potential out-of-bounds
reads.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
batman-adv: bla: fix report_work leak on backbone_gw purge
batadv_bla_purge_backbone_gw() removes stale backbone gateway entries,
but fails to properly handle their associated report_work:
- If report_work is running, the purge must wait for it to finish before
freeing the backbone_gw, otherwise the worker may access freed memory
(e.g. bat_priv).
- If report_work is pending, the purge must cancel it and release the
reference held for that pending work item.
The previous implementation called hlist_for_each_entry_safe() inside a
spin_lock_bh() section, but cancel_work_sync() may sleep and therefore
cannot be called from within a spinlock-protected region.
Restructure the loop to handle one entry per spinlock critical section:
acquire the lock, find the next entry to purge, remove it from the hash
list, then release the lock before calling cancel_work_sync() and
dropping the hash_entry reference. Repeat until no more entries require
purging.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: iwlwifi: mld: don't dereference a pointer before NULL checking it
In iwl_mld_remove_link, the link->fw_id is saved at the beginning of the
function so we have it after we freed the link.
But the link pointer can be NULL, and is not checked when the fw_id is
stored.
Fix it by simply freeing the link at the end of the function.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
i2c: stub: Reject I2C block transfers with invalid length
The I2C_SMBUS_I2C_BLOCK_DATA case in stub_xfer() uses data->block[0]
as the transfer length. The existing check only clamps it to avoid
overrunning the chip->words[256] register array, but does not validate
it against I2C_SMBUS_BLOCK_MAX (32), which is the limit of the union
i2c_smbus_data.block buffer (34 bytes total). The driver is a
development/test tool (CONFIG_I2C_STUB=m, not built by default)
that must be loaded with a chip_addr= parameter.
A local user with access to /dev/i2c-* can issue an I2C_SMBUS ioctl
with I2C_SMBUS_I2C_BLOCK_DATA and data->block[0] > 32, causing
stub_xfer() to read or write past the end of the union
i2c_smbus_data.block buffer:

The bug exists because i2c-stub implements .smbus_xfer directly,
bypassing the I2C_SMBUS_BLOCK_MAX validation in
i2c_smbus_xfer_emulated(). The I2C_SMBUS_BLOCK_DATA case in the same
function correctly validates against I2C_SMBUS_BLOCK_MAX, but the
I2C_SMBUS_I2C_BLOCK_DATA case does not.
Fix by rejecting transfers with data->block[0] == 0 or
data->block[0] > I2C_SMBUS_BLOCK_MAX with -EINVAL, consistent with
both the I2C_SMBUS_BLOCK_DATA case in the same function and the
I2C_SMBUS_I2C_BLOCK_DATA validation in i2c_smbus_xfer_emulated().
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
Bluetooth: L2CAP: cancel pending_rx_work before taking conn->lock
l2cap_conn_del() takes conn->lock and then calls cancel_work_sync() for
pending_rx_work. process_pending_rx() takes the same mutex, so teardown
can deadlock against the worker it is flushing.
This issue was found by our static analysis tool and then manually
reviewed against the current tree.
The grounded PoC kept the l2cap_conn_ready() -> queue_work(...,
&conn->pending_rx_work) submit path, the l2cap_conn_del() ->
cancel_work_sync(&conn->pending_rx_work) teardown path, and the
process_pending_rx() -> mutex_lock(&conn->lock) worker edge. Lockdep

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
xfs: fail recovery on a committed log item with no regions
If the first op of a transaction is a bare transaction header
(len == sizeof(struct xfs_trans_header)), xlog_recover_add_to_trans()
adds an item but no region, leaving it on r_itemq with ri_cnt == 0 and
ri_buf == NULL.
The header can be split across op records, so later ops may still add
regions; the item is only invalid if the transaction commits with none.
The runtime commit path never emits such a transaction, so this only
happens on a crafted log. It came from an AI-assisted code audit of the
recovery parser.
xlog_recover_reorder_trans() calls ITEM_TYPE() on the item, which reads
*(unsigned short *)item->ri_buf[0].iov_base and faults on the NULL
ri_buf. Reject it there, before the commit handlers that also read
ri_buf[0].
